The SuperMedic tourniquet is a life-saving tool designed for rapid control of severe limb hemorrhages. In the event of a serious injury causing uncontrolled heavy bleeding, the tourniquet is the first line of intervention before emergency services arrive.

Why a tourniquet in your kit?

Deep cuts, machinery accidents, and construction site injuries can cause life-threatening blood loss in less than 5 minutes. The tourniquet effectively compresses the artery and stops the bleeding until medical care can be provided.

Recommended Use

The tourniquet is recommended for any workplace where limb accidents are possible: construction, woodworking, manufacturing, agriculture, commercial kitchens. CSA Standard Z1220:24 requires the inclusion of a tourniquet in Type 2 and 3 kits. Essential in paramedic kits and SuperMedic construction kits.

Un garrot tourniquet est réservé aux hémorragies des membres (bras, avant-bras, jambe, cuisse) qui ne peuvent pas être contrôlées par pression directe. Il s'applique uniquement sur un membre et doit être mis en place par une personne formée aux premiers secours. En cas d'hémorragie grave, appelez le 911 sans attendre.

Les secteurs les plus exposés aux risques de coupure profonde ou d'écrasement incluent la construction, la foresterie, l'industrie manufacturière et les interventions d'urgence. Complétez votre trousse avec le matériel de premiers soins adapté à votre milieu de travail pour répondre aux exigences des régulateurs provinciaux (WSIB en Ontario, WorkSafeBC en Colombie-Britannique, WCB en Alberta).
