Teflon Burn Bandages

A Teflon dressingis a gauze covered with Teflon, a completely non-stick material. Unlike a conventional dressing which sticks to burnt tissues and causes trauma upon removal, Teflon gauze does not react with damaged skin. It protects the burn without ever sticking to it, allowing for painless removal without aggravating the injury.

The SuperMedic Teflon dressing is suitable for first, second and third-degree burns. It is particularly essential for second and third-degree burns, where the skin is open or destroyed and any adhesive material risks sticking to the tissues and worsening the damage. For extensive or deep burns, consult a doctor after application.

First, cool the burn withcold running water for 10 to 20 minutes. Never apply ice, butter or greasy cream. Then, place the Teflon gauze directly on the burned area without applying pressure. Hold in place with a bandage or medical tape. Change the dressing as soon as it becomes dirty or soaked.

Yes. After rinsing the exposed area thoroughly for at least 15 to 20 minutes, the Teflon dressing can be applied to the chemical burn to protect the tissues without adhering to them. In case of eye contact, use the emergency eyewashfirst before any other intervention.

No. The Teflon dressing is applied directly to the burn, without cream, intermediate compress, or antiseptic. Any greasy or wet substance applied to an open burn risks promoting infection and delaying healing. The Teflon gauze alone is sufficient to protect the wound until medical care.
